If you notice that the air conditioner turns off suspiciously quickly - immediately after turning on, after 1-2 or 10 minutes, do not rush to paniс. It is perhaps you have set such settings that the unit coped with the task faster than you think. Nevertheless, there are many reasons for the rapid shutdown of the air conditioner, associated with the breakdown of one of its components or improper operation. In this case, only a qualified professional technician with the necessary diagnostic equipment can find the root cause of the breakdown and eliminate it. What to do if the air conditioner turns off too quickly? Sure, the owner has to clarify the cause of the breakdown, and what it is better to do in such a situation. Take careful note of the following information. The suction line is the part of the piping system of an ac/ref unit. After the refrigerant evaporates into a gas in the evaporator coil the section of piping from this coil to the condenser coil is called the suction line. At the condenser the refrigerant condenses back to a liquid and transfers the heat absorbed to a non conditioned space, usually outside on a common residential ac system. If your system is composed of two parts, one inside and one outside, this is called a split system. The copper line sets that connect the two are two different sizes. The larger one is your suction line and is usually insulated. It returns to the evaporator coil in the smaller line called the liquid line. It is sometimes called the low side of the system because the psi of this line is much lower than the liquid line, called high side, and you check each with different dials on your gauges. The suction valve is used to remove excess superheat. If the valve is not seated correctly and the heat remains, the suction pressure will begin to rise. This can also cause refrigerant to leak from the compressor's cylinder back into the suction line. As more and more of the refrigerant is displaced or drawn back into the suction lines of the system, the higher the suction pressure. A leak in the suction valve is often detected during an inspection of the system and can be repaired rather quickly. These tips are a great way to identify the problem if it happens to occur between regular inspections. If a leak is detected or if you suspect one may be compromising your system, call a professional HVAC technician and have them take a look at your system. The sooner it's fixed, the quicker your system will be up and running at maximum efficiency.
