Bosch refrigerators are designed not for cooling and freezing only but for making food ice as well. Such appliances are connected to a water supply system to filter incoming water, produce ice cubes and dispense them. The ice maker does not freeze the water, it opens the valve to fill the molds with water, measures the temperature, and turns on the blade motor to push the ice out. In spite of all the benefits, this function causes problems like wrong size of ice cubes or their absence. If your fridge is not making ice or pouring water, don’t panic. Usually this indicates that there is something missing, rather than the appliance malfunctioning. The list below will help you complete some checks and steps to resolving the issue on your own. Here is what you can do:
- Check the ice maker is switched on. If the ice maker is switched off the ice will not be dispensed and water will also not flow through. You can switch on the ice maker using the control panel on your fridge.
- Check the water supply. If the appliance is not properly connected to the water supply, it will not dispense ice or pour water. Ensure proper connection to the water mains with a minimum pressure of 0.2 MPa (2bar). We recommend contacting a plumber in case you are having trouble contacting the fridge to the water supply.
- Ice maker has just been switched on. When you switch on the ice maker it’s important to leave enough time for the ice to be ready. It usually takes approximately 24 hours until the ice cube container is filled again.
- Ice cube container is difficult to open. If you are struggling to access the ice cube container, the ice has most probably stuck together and is obstructing the full container from being properly pulled out. We recommend after you press the ice cube container button, to wiggle the tray slightly and gently pull it out.
- Level the appliance. Using a spirit level, ensure that your fridge is placed in a balanced way and that the appliance does not tilt towards any direction. If the appliance is not level, water may flow out of the ice maker, ice cubes may be irregular or the door may not close properly. You can use the bolts underneath the fridge to help you level it out properly.
If these tips have no positive effect, it is time to call a professional plumber and run a diagnostic.
