We’ve had a call with a worrisome appeal from one of the homeowners. The top tray of the GE dishwasher is not moving. The customer has tried to replace the tray but hasn’t found the right part. Our maintenance workers are able to detect and fix the issue as well as find and replace the broken parts. Still, it will be instructive to know what prevents the top tray from moving and how to unblock the dishes. Check your upper spray arm for clogged holes and/or not raising up from the center if it does. Also, make sure you don't block it with a pot. Try using a strong piece of wire (heavy duty paper clip or coat hanger) to make a hook to grab to post to pull it up or use it to clean out the holes. If you can take it apart you can try soaking the parts in 'Lime Away' to clean off the mineral build up if you have hard water. Then, call a repairman to fix the issue completely.
