It is not uncommon for the long-time-used GE Monogram refrigerator to stop cooling properly. Try placing a thermometer in the fridge at the bottom (and the freezer if you have that many) to verify that the temperature indicated by the control panel, when viewing the actual temp, is what is actually in the fridge (freezer) within a degree or so anyway. If you see that the temperature is inaccurate, you will need to check the evaporator fan motor for a failure. The evaporator fan motor draws cold air over the evaporator coils and circulates it throughout the freezer. If the evaporator fan is not working, the freezer or refrigerator will not cool adequately. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, replace the fan motor. Additionally, if the motor is unusually noisy, replace it. Finally, if the motor does not run at all, use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor. Another issue may concern the clogged evaporator coils. The condenser coils are located at the back of your refrigerator on the bottom. These coils cool down air that passes over them, and if they get dirty, they may not work as effectively. If your condenser coils are clean, you may have a problem with the start relay or capacitor or your temperature control thermostat or board. Fortunately, there is a chance your GE Monogram refrigerator just requires general maintenance. It probably needs adding Freon and cleaning.
