No matter which brand you use it is a disaster when the washer stops working. Btw the dryer still runs as a rule. Unplug the unit from the wall for a minute and also opened/closed the lid multiple times within a few seconds. These steps must reset it. If it doesn’t work, it will be a good idea to call for professional help. That’s great if the owner remembers where in the cycle the washer stopped because it may help to investigate the breakdown faster. Also pay attention whether the washer is full of water. Try bailing out about 1/3 of the water and try to 'reset' the cycle to see if it would start to fill up with water again. When it still does nothing, the case is going to be hard solving yourself. It would really be easier to get this fixed rather than go through the process of buying a new setup.
