Every day more and more housewives prefer cooking in ovens. After all, food prepared this way turns out to be not only more tasty, but also as healthy as possible. In addition, due to the wide functionality of electric ovens, cooking is greatly facilitated. Unfortunately, there is no appliance immune to malfunction. Even after the first years of using a new oven, first problems may appear. There is no need to wait for the markable signs of a breakdown - the dishes simply remain half-baked or raw. The owners need to know what to do with it and what can be fixed on their own, and what can’t. It is enough to have a simple set of tools to determine the malfunction. The main one is an indicator screwdriver. A measuring device such as an ohmmeter can be used to check the heating elements as well. You need to test each separate wiring. And even despite the fact that the design of the oven is simple, in most cases the repair of ovens is performed in service centers, since the speed of recovery plays an important role for the family life, and finding necessary parts for self-repair takes a lot of time. If your Hotpoint oven problem entails the cooker burning or undercooking food, this could mean your cookers thermostat is broken. The thermostat on the cooker regulates the temperature in the oven, but if this is broken, the Hotpoint oven will not be able to maintain the right temperature. This can lead to food burning or undercooking, which could be a potentially dangerous situation. Luckily though, Hotpoint oven thermostats can be replaced without the need to buy a new cooker. The oven bake burner and ignition components are located beneath the oven cavity. In most cases the oven bottom panel can be removed for access (check your owner's manual) but on some models the oven burner has to be accessed from below in the warming or broiler drawer area. If accessing from the top, a 'flame spreader' (flat metal plate) above the burner may also need to be removed to see the burner itself. Some range models may have an additional broil burner located at the top of the oven cavity which may be referred to as a 'waist high' broil. If not, broiling usually takes place in the drawer area below the oven, which uses the same bake burner for the broil function. Different Hotpoint models may use different styles of ignitors, so look up the part number or take the old igniter with you when you purchase a replacement part.
