Don’t leave a repair of your Miele oven too long. When some of the burners refuse to work properly, try checking the igniter connections to make sure they are secure. Normally, you should hear a clicking noise and be able to smell gas coming out of the valves. If you hear the click but don’t smell anything, the problem is likely with the gas flow. If you smell gas but don’t hear any clicking, the issue could lie with the ignition switch. Unplug the oven from the wall, as you will be working with electronic components and don’t want to receive a shock. Lift the burner head completely out of the oven – it should have wiring coming out of the range top connected to the bottom of it – and examine the connections to make sure the wires are properly attached to the igniter. Loose connections can prevent the igniter from sparking and the fire from lighting. Make sure that each burner head is placed in the correct position on the cooktop. Also make sure the burner cap matches its burner head. The burner cap will lay flat and fit securely if put on correctly. If nothing helps, contact a qualified appliance repair technician to detect the origins of the issue and eliminate it.
