There are no unified recommendations on how often it is necessary to clean the drainage of your Carrier air conditioner: in one district the same split system can work without cleaning for a year or even more, and in another the need for this procedure occurs once every 1-2 months. Everything is purely individual. The frequency of cleaning the drain pipe of the air conditioner is influenced by various factors. Here is what you should do at least twice a year.
1. Turn off the air conditioner by unplugging the power cord from the outlet;
2. Disconnect the blinds and, having unscrewed the fastening screws, carefully remove the cover of the indoor unit;
3. Remove filters, rinse them well in water with dishwashing liquid, then dry thoroughly;
4. Remove the pan located under the fan turbine, having previously disconnected the drain tube and unscrewed the screws holding it. In some models of Carrier air conditioners, it is quite difficult to disconnect the pan. You will have to study the instructions or find an answer on the Internet to the question of how the drain pan is removed on air conditioners of your model;
5. Thoroughly rinse the pan and clean the hole for draining the condensate from dirt;
6. Blow out the drain tube with a vacuum cleaner. If there is a blockage in it, fill it with a syringe for cleaning air conditioners - you can buy it in specialized stores selling climate equipment. Leaving the liquid in the tube for 15-30 minutes, remove the dirt with a vacuum cleaner;
7. Disinfect the drainage system by treating the pan and filters with sanitizer. The same liquid must be poured into the drain tube for disinfection, and after 15 minutes, rinse it with cold water;
8. Clean the evaporator and fan turbine from dust with a soft brush and vacuum cleaner.
