Jenn-Air built0in ovens work for most of the life of the appliance without you ever having to think about them. They light reliably and automatically relight when the burner's flame is accidentally extinguished. However, as igniters do most of the cooktop's work, they are the most common point of failure. Jenn-Air igniters are designed to be easy to replace. But Jenn-Air recommends that consumers call a technician for replacement. Surely, some minor repairs and replacements owners can perform themselves. When the deal concerns gas, it is better not to risk your lives. If that doesn’t stop you from DIY, make sure you have switched off gas. Slide out and remove the warming drawer from beneath the oven. Look underneath the oven with a flashlight and locate the ignitor connected to the bottom panel beneath the oven. Unscrew the screws that hold the ignitor in place and set the screws aside. Pull the ignitor away from the mount. If the ignitor's wires are connected using a wiring harness, separate the two halves of the harness before connecting the new ignitor to the harness. If the ignitor is hard-wired, clip the wires using a pair of wire cutters, then strip off 1/2-inch of insulation from the tips of the two wires beneath the oven, as well as off of the two wires of the new ignitor. Twist together the tips of one of the wires from the new ignitor to one of the stripped wires from the stove, and connect the two with one of the ceramic wire nuts that are included with the ignitor. Then connect the other two wires in similar fashion. Remount the ignitor and attach it with the mounting screws. Then reconnect the gas line and turn on the gas. Next, plug in the oven to the outlet. Test the ignitor. If the oven operates correctly, replace the warming drawer and push the oven back into position. Remember to conduct a regular check and prevent future troubles.
