Is your Refrigerator not cooling? What about the freezer? We can predict it doesn’t cool either. Fortunately, compressors don’t fail really often. You can investigate the issue, maybe it is something else. If the compressor has failed (the compressor will not start, even after replacing the start relay ---- OR the compressor is running and very hot, and the condenser coils are not clogged, and the condenser fan is running,) there's no good reason to pay half the cost of a new fridge to resurrect a 10-15 year old fridge. Occasionally the repair is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. That may be the only time it makes financial sense to replace a compressor. If you still haven’t found the cause for your refrigerator not cooling then it could be a few other problems. One is that it’s a possibility you may have left the door open. If you know you didn’t do that then the door gasket may be bad but this is a stretch because it would have to be pretty bad to cause the fresh foods and freezer sections not to cool. It may be a sealed system problem in which case you’ll need to call a repairman.
