There are a number of reasons why the Maytag dryer does not heat up and therefore does not dry clothes. The air line is clogged or overheated consequently heated air is not supplied to the device. The heating element is broken. This scenario requires changing the heater. When the filter is clogged, there is a necessity to clean the filter from dirt and rinse with warm soapy water. Your appliance will not heat up if a temperature controller or temperature sensor have broken. The solution is obvious - change the failed part. If a large amount of clothes have been placed in the dryer, or they are not properly sorted, your dryer gets overloaded. The device will not heat up due to an incorrectly set drying mode. Pay attention to a timer. The device timer may be out of order. A thermistor also needs a test. Thermistors are an important component of dryer circuitry. Dryer thermistors are located in the airflow conduit that carries heated air into the dryer's cavity, which contains clothes and other materials that are being dried. They are wired to a central circuit board, called a control board, that synchronizes the dryer's operations and processes user input. The control board reads the resistance levels of the thermistor to determine the temperature of the air being propelled into the dryer. The circuit board uses data sent from the thermistor to determine when it should cut power to the heating element and allow the drying cycle to restart. When a thermistor is failing, it'll display incorrect temperatures, or you'll see impossible temperature fluctuations. They measure temperatures and send resistance signals to the control module, allowing the system to automatically adjust so the cabin remains at the temperature you set. To test it, pull one wire off and measure the resistance across the leads of the thermistor. Most thermistors for the dryers will measure between 10K ohms (10,000 ohms) and 12K ohms at room temperature. If the thermistor is way out of this range, then it is likely bad and will need to be replaced. Give us a call to check the thermistor and replace if needed.
