If the door of the oven does not close or latch securely, then the reason may be either a breakdown of the locking mechanism or banal inattention. In any case, if you experience problems with the door, we advise you not to experiment and fix the problem on your own. Some of the reasons that prevent the door from closing can be eliminated by yourself, but it is better for a specialist to repair and adjust such parts like hinges. When your oven door does not close, we strongly advise against doing the following to close the obstinate door. Omit trying to slam the door. The latch is the most common culprit if your stove or oven door doesn’t close. It can become warped or stuck with frequent use and after you’ve opened and closed the door countless times. You may also have accidentally pressed the self-clean button and inadvertently locked it before closing the door properly. So, if your oven is empty, you can begin a self-clean cycle and turn it off after one minute. This should hopefully unlock the lock. If not, then the latch may need replacement. Some models feature oven door springs to act as a counterweight or resistance when you open or close the door. Check these springs for misalignment or damage. You may also have to slide the bottom drawer out and inspect under the oven. If you find that a spring is broken, you can replace it by loosening the bolts and putting in a new one. If a spring is misaligned, adjust and place it back to its proper position. The gasket is the heat-resistant cloth that keeps the oven door tightly sealed. It can be attached to the oven or on the door itself, depending on the model. The gasket can become covered in crumbs, grease, and other debris from cooking, and this buildup will eventually make it difficult for you to shut the door tight. Clean the gasket thoroughly and get rid of all the grease and debris covering it. You should do this frequently before the buildup gets too stubborn to wipe off. If the cleaning doesn’t do it, your gasket may be cracked or distorted. In such a case, a replacement gasket would be necessary. If you detected the issue and feel no fear to replace a broken pert yourself, use the original parts only. Our support specialists will be glad to help you if there are any problems with replacement.
