Solved! Water heater American Standard g-40t1-3-6 too hot

When the water heater becomes too hot - this could be dangerous. Better to fix this problem. First of all, you must understand an issue of getting too hot. Most common problem - thermostat. The thermostat determines the maximum water temperature setting. If the thermostat is defective, the water temperature may not be set at the proper level. To determine if the thermostat is defective, assess hot water temperature from the nearest faucet. If the water temperature is hotter than the selected thermostat setting, this indicates that the thermostat is defective. Today we will replace the thermostat in the water heater American Standard g-40t1-3-6. Follow our instruction and prepare some tools: work gloves, Phillips screwdriver, slot screwdriver, needle nose pliers. 

1. Shutting off the electricity. Switch the two house circuit breakers dedicated for the water heater to OFF. Wear work gloves to protect your hands.
2. Removing the heating element’s access cover. Remove the heating elements access cover mounting screw and pull off the cover. Fold the insulation back to expose the thermostat.
3. Removing the plastic shield. Lift up the tab located at the top of the plastic shield to release the shield from the thermostat. Remove the shield.
4. Removing the thermostat. Loosen the screws securing the wires to the thermostat. Pull the wires out. To release the thermostat, pull the tabs outward at the top of the thermostat bracket. Slide the thermostat up and remove it from behind the thermostat bracket.
5. Installing the new thermostat. Place the new thermostat in the bracket making sure it fits firmly behind the tabs and against the tank. Reattach the wires to the new thermostat and tighten firmly.
6. Reinstalling the plastic shield. Reinstall the plastic shield over the thermostat and heating element. Fold the insulation back over the thermostat and heating element.
7. Reinstalling the access cover. Reinstall the heating element cover and screw.
8. Restoring power. Connect your water heater to the electricity.
