If your Amana dryer has stopped drying clothes, contact our specialists, who can urgently come to your home and check your appliance. Please note that if you repair it yourself, you run the risk of disabling a complex technological device. Therefore, if you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to trust the professionals! When the main drying function in dryers stops working, all washed laundry remains damp. The reasons for this can be completely different. The thermal fuse is a safety device within your Amana dryer. The purpose of it is to keep the dryer from overheating. When the dryer gets to be too hot, the thermal fuse kicks on and turns the dryer off, keeping it from getting any hotter. Improper maintenance, rare cleaning or even overloading lead to overheat of the thermal fuse. It is necessary to check the fuse and replace if needed. Follow the steps to replace the thermal fuse easily:
Turn off the dryer. Unplug the machine from the wall receptacle.
Unscrew two screws at the bottom of the machine. Lift off the panel on the lower front of the machine.
Look inside and locate the burner housing. On most Amana models, the fuse is a white porcelain plate or cylinder attached to the side of the housing.
Pull the wires off the fuse terminals and unscrew the fuse from the housing, using a Phillips screwdriver.
Test the fuse for continuity before you replace it. Place the leads of an ohmmeter or multimeter set to "Ohms" on the fuse terminals. If the meter doesn't move - the fuse has blown. If the meter shows "0" ohms of resistance, the fuse is still good.
Replace a blown fuse with an identical one. Attach the fuse to the burner housing, using the screws provided. Plug in the wires. Replace the access cover.
