Not every cleaning has a good end so that your Thermador gas oven may not start up anymore. Most likely, igniters have been moisturized or burners have been put in improperly. After cleaning the burner heads and caps, shake out excess water and let them dry out thoroughly by air drying or by setting in a warm oven for 30 minutes. Once dry, replace the burners to their correct position, plug in the unit and try lighting the burners again. It can take up to 10-12 clicks to ignite a burner. If that has no positive effect, the igniter’s mechanism might be defective. The failure could be with the igniter’s wiring, control module, or the igniter switch itself. When installing the new igniter, you want to handle it very carefully. One accidental drop could render it completely useless as it is a rather fragile piece. Start by remounting the igniter before connecting the wires. This will ensure proper positioning without having to worry about where the wires sit. If your igniter uses a wire nut and you are not reusing the previous ones, make sure you use a metal nut rather than a plastic one. The ambient heat of your oven will melt the plastic. While an igniter’s control module or switch can be individually replaced, a defect in wiring may require replacement of the igniter’s entire system. It is recommended to get professional service for the assessment and replacement of an igniter or it’s components. Give us a call and we’ll be glad to help you find replacement parts and arrange any major repairs on your Thermador range.
