The owners of refrigerators from the past had only to guess why the unit suddenly began to make a lot of noise, ceased to perform its functions efficiently. Modern models are equipped with electronic systems with various convenient options. The electronic module installed in the refrigerator not only controls the operation of all units, but also constantly diagnoses their activity. In case of a failure, it displays error codes on the display. This "diagnosis" makes it possible to determine the cause of the problem immediately and eliminate it. Check the Electrical Supply. Verify power is supplied to the unit. Reset the unit's electrical supply at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds and retest. Verify the unit is not connected to a tripped GFCI. If accessible, test the electrical outlet that the unit is plugged into. Check the Unit Settings. Verify that the zone is not turned off. If the zone is off, double dashes (--) on the control panel will appear. See Double Dashes (--) on Control Panel. If lights are out in the unit, the control may appear unresponsive as the display panel is backlit. Verify the unit is not in Sabbath Mode. For drawer units with a separate control for the drawer section, make sure the wire harness (communication cable) is securely plugged in the back of the cabinet behind the drawer. If the control panel is still not working, regardless of whether the refrigerator is running, service is necessary to expertly diagnose and repair the product. Contact refrigerator repair service to schedule an appointment for repair. When “SERVICE” flashes, it could mean you need to clean the condenser – the part of the refrigerator that transfers heat from the refrigerant to the air. Begin by switching the unit off and then switch it back on again. If the error message persists, you’ll need to call a Sub-Zero-accredited engineer to solve the problem. This is not a DIY fix. On fridge-freezer units, you might see the error code “SERVICE” and “ICE” flashing. Try the above method and restart the appliance to see if the message goes away. If it doesn’t contact your Sub-Zero-accredited engineer.
