Whirlpool ranges are easy and convenient to use. They are equipped with automatic ignition which is powered from the electrical network. There are knobs on the surface. The electric ignition is turned on by turning the knob. The block generates a spark and transmits it through the spark gap onto the burner. When you stop turning the knob, the spark automatically stops under the condition everything works fine. But what should you do if your Whirlpool range continues to click incessantly or refuses to click despite you turning the knob? In some cases, this is a serious breakdown that needs to be examined by a repair specialist. Therefore, if you notice a similar problem, please contact our service for help. While you are making a call to the wizard, we will describe in detail the possible causes of breakdowns why your appliance has troubles with normal sparkling. The most common cause of ignition stuck is moisture. As a rule, the range starts clicking after washing. Water drops fall on the power button (it can be separate or built into the gas knob), the electrical circuit is closed, and the spark goes on constantly. What to do? The simplest solution is to wait when water dries. If the clicks annoy or scare you, simply unplug the stove and wait. Usually a few hours are enough for drying. A more complicated option is to disassemble the electric ignition button and remove moisture. Unfortunately, most types of stoves require the removal of the cooktop. It is better to trust such work to the repair technician. If you don't hear clicking or a snapping sound and if you do not see a spark then the igniter module could be shot or an igniter wire may have become disconnected. Check that the appliance is plugged in and that its circuit breaker or fuse is on or intact. If there is electrical power to the stove or cooktop but no igniters spark or click the igniter module may need replacement. Mostly, the igniter module should be the very last thing you try, because 90% of the time the igniter problem is instead one of the issues. Usually if the igniter module is bad then none of the igniters will spark or all will spark only weakly. Less common is weak sparking at one or all igniters. A weak spark may be due to water on the igniter, wet wiring, a cracked damaged igniter or on occasion a failing igniter module. We do not recommend you repair your Whirlpool range because it will probably make things worse. Don’t hesitate to contact our customer support to arrange a maintenance visit.
