The first thing to do, when you find that the oven door does not close, check the door for mechanical damage and broken hinges. The next step is to clean the door contour from food debris, grease and dust and check the seal for deformation and wear. In addition to the above reasons for malfunction, the door may not close due to a breakdown of the opening (closing) mechanism, as well as wear or breakage of the hinges. In most cases door hinges needs to be replaced but some time with old style ovens and ranges help this trick:
1. Put small towels on right and left hinge between the door and range/oven body
2. Close the door and gently push like you try to close completely.
3. Try several times.
4. Open door, remove towels and see if it helps
5. If not replace hinges
Modern ovens are equipped with special seals that ensure a hermetic closing of the door. This part is made of a refractory material, which, however, inevitably breaks down and deforms over time. If the door does not close completely, then the integrity of the sealing layer should be checked. Like any other kitchen and household appliances, the stove needs regular preventive cleaning, and this directly applies to the oven. Oily splashes and food residues, which inevitably form during cooking, can build a dense layer on the oven contour. Such carbon deposits are removed mechanically. It is always a good idea to arrange a maintenance visit and let a professional repair technician check and fix the broken door of your Whirlpool oven.
