As a rule, when your Whirlpool oven door is not closing, the stove loses its temperature and efficiency. Surely, the issue requires a fast solution. Well, if you have come across with the same trouble, check the door latch first of all. Open the oven door and look at the top front of the oven frame above the gasket to verify the lock latch arm is not bent/bowed up or down preventing the door from closing. If you see that the latch is defective, replace it with a new one. Then, remove the door to examine the hinges. Pull straight up then out on the door to release most hinges, which are only attached to the door, not the oven. If the door doesn't pull up, look inside the oven for screws holding the hinges in place and unscrew them. Replace the hinges with identical new ones and hook them back into the hinge holes in the oven. Push the door down to lock the hinges in place, or replace the screws. Now take a look at the actual gasket around your oven door. This is a soft rubber piece that allows the door to seal. Since you’ve already wiped down the surface where the door meets the oven, you’ve likely already wiped the gasket clean. If you haven’t, do so now. Water and mild soap are totally safe to use on this rubber or synthetic rubber piece of your oven. When the gasket is old or timeworn, replace it. It won’t be able to perform its duties. Probably, there might be a problem with the oven racks or an obstruction in the door frame. There is a necessity to test your Whirlpool oven more thoroughly.
