Puddles may appear not only after the rain. When your Whirlpool refrigerator leaks, have no doubt to see water on the kitchen floor. Bottom leakage suggests a water filter issue. There are two possible scenarios. The water filter could be damaged or improperly installed. If the water filter was not installed correctly, it could cause the refrigerator to leak. Please remove the filter and try installing again. Remove the filter and inspect it for cracks or damage. If the filter is cracked or damaged, replace the filter with a new one. Also, be sure the O-rings are still in place. If the O-rings are damaged or missing replace the filter. It is recommended that the water filter be replaced every 6 months, when the indicator light comes on, or as needed. Chemicals, minerals and other impurities, found in the water, can cause the water filter housing to break down over an extended period of time, causing the water filter to leak. If the filter is leaking and you are not able to immediately replace it, leave the filter out so the water system is in bypass mode. With the filter removed, the water system will continue to operate. Take a look at the water supply, door gaskets and ice maker functioning. What’s more, don’t forget about regular cleaning. First, unplug the refrigerator from AC power. For most refrigerators, the condenser coils are located on the very bottom and they're typically accessed in the front or back. To access the coils, look for the grille and remove it by popping out the snaps that hold it in place, or unscrewing it if it's screwed in. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove the majority of the buildup. If there's a lot of leftover debris, use a brush or a wipe cloth to gently remove the remaining debris. Replace the grille and restore power to the refrigerator.
